Deputy Attorney General,Mr. Ahmed Usham
Uz. Ahmed Usham was appointed to the post of the Deputy Attorney General on August 15, 2013.
Deputy Attorney General is appointed by the President of the Maldives, in accordance with article 115 of the constitution.
Deputy Attorney General is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing all matters pertaining to civil litigation, legal advise and opinion and assisting the Attorney General to fulfill the requirements prescribed by the Constitution and by laws of the Maldives. In addition, he is also responsible for overseeing the daily administration of the office.
Permanent Secretary, Ms. Sultana Shakir
Ms. Sultana Shakir was appointed to the post of Permanent Secretary on June 3, 2012.
Permanent Secretary is appointed by the Civil Service Commission of the Maldives, in accordance with article 56 of the Civil Service Act.
Permanent Secretary is responsible for overall management of the ministry/office under direction from the Minister, and to provide advise and assistance to the Minister as and when required; provide assistance to the Minister on issues where the minister is accountable to the parliament; and, oversee and manage all affairs of civil service employees of the responsible office as per civil service act and regulation.
